Last Friday, Rail Day took place on our factory premises and it was a complete success! The weather was good and numerous visitors came together to discover GBM Gleisbaumechanik.
As part of the nationwide Rail Day weekend, we also opened our factory gates. Rail Day was launched in 2022 to highlight the diversity and innovative strength of the rail industry, showcase career opportunities, and allow people to discover the world of rail from a new perspective. After an opening speech by our new managing director, Dr. Teupke, there were many exciting activities for young and old alike. These ranged from numerous hands-on attractions such as the painting and craft corner, face painting, and the bouncy castle to a vehicle exhibition and interesting factory tours offering insights into everyday life at GBM. Catering was of course provided for the numerous guests who attended.
Another highlight and popular photo opportunity this year was the “Ferkeltaxe” rail bus, which traveled between the five participating companies from Kirchmöser—GBM Gleisbaumechanik, DB Systemtechnik, DB Umweltservice, voestalpine Railway Systems, and STRABAG Rail—and took visitors from one location to the next. Those who visited all five companies were able to collect a different stamp for each company on a specially designed stamp card.
Our career information stand also attracted a great deal of interest: many visitors took the opportunity to find out about career opportunities at GBM. This led to numerous exciting conversations. We look forward to strengthening our team with motivated employees in the future.
In the afternoon, we also welcomed Brandenburg's mayor, Steffen Scheller, to our factory premises. A short tour of the GBM site provided a good opportunity to get to know each other and discuss current issues affecting the Kirchmöser railway location.
The mood was consistently positive—the guests were enthusiastic and the organizers were completely satisfied. A souvenir of this successful day was our coloring banner, on which both our guests and employees left their mark.
We can look back on a fantastic event and would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment. We are already looking forward to next year's Rail Day!
